OUR MISSION

Orchestra Los Angeles connects us to the soul of our city

through transformative collisions of art, architecture, and music.

WHO WE ARE

We are a group of artists, musicians and business leaders who believe strongly in the power of music to impact our society. Our diverse talents come together to build what we envision will be a new orchestral paradigm; an orchestra focused on its city, dedicated to celebrating its diversity and connecting with its citizens.

OUR LEADERSHIP

Artistic & Music Director

Founder of Orchestra Los Angeles, Michael Christ Powers is a leader in his vision to create an orchestra which celebrates Los Angeles and its rich cultural diversity. His career and success as a conductor have centered on the power of music and its impact to create more connected and empathetic citizens in our society.

Director of Artistic Planning

Co-founder of Orchestra Los Angeles, Omar Crook is in his fifteenth season with the Los Angeles Opera Company, and is deeply entrenched in the Los Angeles classical music community.

Mr Crook performs regularly with international symphonies, and can be heard on many feature films, and as host and producer of the popular Living With a Genius podcast, he has published over ninety long-form interviews with some of the world’s greatest performers, composers, conductors, lecturers, and business leaders.

Director of Operations

An opera singer, stage director, voice teacher, and arts administrator, Katherine Powers performs regularly with LA Opera Connects and numerous Los Angeles musical entities, bringing opera into diverse Los Angeles communities. She is the founding Director of Vocal Arts at California School of the Arts – San Gabriel Valley, and is committed to creating art that changes lives, both through performance and through education.

Special Counsel

As an Executive Strategist, Andreas has made it his mission to help founders and company leaders move from times of disillusion, overwhelm, and uncertainty to full ignition of purpose, a clear plan of action, and sustainable profits. Andreas is also proud to be the Executive Director of Just Float Therapy Spa in Pasadena, and a Board Director for the Pacific Opera Project in Los Angeles for whom he hosts a pod(POPera)cast and Livestreams which have garnered over 120,000 views to date. As a life-long performer, teacher, and advocate for the arts, Andreas has studied classical piano, voice, and theater, and has appeared in, directed, and produced dozens of plays as well as television and movies. He is ecstatic to be able to support and align himself with the wonderful OLA team, and looks forward to the day when the distance between orchestral music and non-traditional audiences no longer exists.
